Task Scheduler

The Task Scheduler automates the processes necessary to schedule a task. Group similar tasks, specify run times and dates, choose a corresponding action for a task, add parameter values, and view a task's status and history on the scheduler.

Task Scheduler table

The Task Scheduler table provides information on tasks that have already been scheduled .

Scheduled Tasks Table fields descriptions

Column	Description
Group	Group task name.
Name *	The task name. A task is the time schedule set for an action, for example, an action might be to process an incoming transaction. The corresponding task might be to run the action every Monday of each month at 4AM.
Status	`Running`, `Ready`, `Disabled`, or `Unknown`.
Next Run Time	Date and time for the task to begin.
Last Run Time	Last date and time the task ran.
Last Run Result	Description of the result of the last run task.
Edited By	Operator who last edited the task.
Edited On	The time and date the task was last edited on.

General subtab

Use General subtab to schedule a new task, or update or delete an existing task.

General subtab fields descriptions

Field	Description
Group	The task group the task is a part of.
Name *	The task name. A task is the time schedule set for an action, for example, an action might be to process an incoming transaction. The corresponding task might be to run the action every Monday of each month at 4AM.
Enabled check box	On/off toggle for running a task.
Start*	Task start date and time. Type in a date in MM/DD/YYYY format or use the calendar to enter a Start date.
End	Task end date and time. Type in a date in MM/DD/YYYY format or use the calendar to enter an End date.
Description	The task description.
Run the Task	Select one of the following options from the Run the Task list. If you choose to use a cron expression to run the task, click the `Build` button to display the Cron Expression Builder. See Build a cron expression. If you choose to use a fixed interval to run the task, indicate how often the task should run in the `Run Every` option (for example, every two hours). Use the `Repeat Count` option to indicate the length of time the task should run, either `Indefinitely` or for a certain amount of time (for example, five times). If you choose to use when a task completes to run the task, select the `Task Group` (optional) and the `Task Name` (the task that should complete previous to your task starting). Select the `Execution Delay` check box and choose the time your task should begin relative to the previous task. For example, you could choose to have your task begin one hour after the previous task completes.

Use the Action subtab to choose a task's action and parameters .

Action subtab fields descriptions

Field	Description
Action	The action the task will execute, for example, processing an incoming or an outgoing transaction. Note: After you select the action, a brief description of the action displays underneath the field. See Action definitions.
Parameters table	`Name`—Name of the parameter for the action. `Data Type`—Data type of the parameter, for example, `integer`. `Value`—Value for the parameter.

Parameters table

Name—Name of the parameter for the action.

Data Type—Data type of the parameter, for example, integer.

Value—Value for the parameter.

History subtab

The History subtab displays a table containing the level, date and time, messages, and category for the selected task.

History subtab fields descriptions

Data	Description
Level	Either `Information` or `Error`. If the `Level` is `Error`, an email is generated and sent to the appropriate user.
Date and Time	Date and time associated with the task category.
Task Category	A history of the task's statuses and system-generated messages. The following is the standard set of tasks and their descriptions. The description will display in the Message field. `Launch request ignored`—Task Scheduler did not launch <Task Name> task because an instance of the same task or same task action is already running. `Task added`—User <User> added <Task Name> task. `Task completed`—Task Scheduler successfully completed execution of an instance of <Task Name> task. (<RunningInstanceID>) `Task generated exception`—An exception occurred when executing an instance of <Task Name> task. (<RunningInstanceID>) `Task recovered`—Task Scheduler recovered an instance of <Task Name> task. (<RunningInstanceID>) `Task started`—Task Scheduler started execution of an instance of <Task Name> task. (<RunningInstanceID>) `Task triggered by recovery`—Task Scheduler launched an instance of <Task Name> task due to task recovery.(<RunningInstanceID>) `Task triggered by condition`—Task Scheduler launched an instance of <Task Name> task due to a trigger condition.(<RunningInstanceID>) `Task triggered by user`—Task Scheduler launched an instance of <Task Name> task due to user initiation.(<RunningInstanceID>)
Message field	The task description. Click the task to view its description in this field.

Run a job now

Run a job immediately instead of scheduling it for a future time. Click anywhere in the row of the necessary task in the Scheduled Tasks table and click Run Now at the bottom-right of the table.
